Did you know that your eternal destiny is based on the choices that you make? Well, it’s a fact. According to the Word of God the decisions you and I make in this world will have eternal consequences.

St. Matthew 7:13-14: (KJV) “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Life is filled with choices. Some of the choices that we make on a daily basis may have little impact on our lives such as what and where to eat. Other choices can have a greater impact on our lives, such as whether or not to get married, have children or what to do as a career.

Each day we are confronted with decisions. Many decisions are trivial and insignificant, while some are essential and life changing. The most important choice we will make in our life is whether or not to follow Jesus. This will determine our eternal destiny.

In this particular passage of scripture Jesus tells us about the two paths that we have to choose from. There is the strait gate and

the wide gate.

Let’s look at the wide gate first. This is the broad way. This path is the one most traveled and it leads to destruction. Many people will choose to go this direction. Why? Because it allows them to do as they please. The flesh can fulfill all of its lustful desires on the broad way.

Now let’s look at the strait gate or the narrow way. This path leads to life. There is enough room for you but every sin and weight must be laid aside. If you are going to enter in the strait gate Jesus MUST be first in your life.

There is only one way to God. There is only one path to God. There is only one truth that leads to God. That way, path and truth is Jesus Christ. In John 14:6: Jesus said unto Thomas, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God has given us the freedom of choice. Some of us will make the decision to do nothing. When we choose not to decide, we choose to go through the wide door by default. Bottom line-we still made a choice.

The strait and narrow way leads to Heaven. The wide and broad way leads to Hell. Yes, it’s true. Heaven and Hell are real destinations. Most people love to talk about heaven and all of it’s splendor but discussions of Hell are often shunned. Don’t fool yourself. You will spend eternity in one or the other. The decision is yours.

Life is about choices and the freedom to make choices. God

loves us so much that He did not take the ability to choose from us. God doesn’t send anyone to Hell we choose to go there by the way we respond to the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

It’s decision-making time. So, what’s it going to be? Strait or narrow, wide or broad, Heaven or Hell, you choose. Remember, your eternal destiny really does depend on it.

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior I encourage you to accept Jesus Christ into your heart. Let’s pray: Dear God, I realize without Jesus I am lost. I believe according to your Word… That if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I shall be saved. Jesus, I now invite you into my life and receive you by faith as my Lord and Savior. I am sorry for my sins and I thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for saving me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
